Q. What some crafts you can do on a budget and not gay crfts ones that you'd buy in stores?
Asked by Sugar Baby - Tue Jan 27 20:22:05 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Origami is good. It is inexpensive-use junk mail (there is a great book for this now) or just find instructions online! The folding projects will spark your creative imagination. Card Making is good, again with paper supplies, scissors, craft glue as complicate as you make it. I think ANY craft with recycled materials is good! I have seen sweaters knit from twine that are amazing! Tin crafting (luminarias, and lanterns) can be fun! You could use your computer to create word art, like calligraphy samplers and so on...Keep looking around and I am sure you will find something! Good Luck!

What are some fun crafts to do during the Summer?

A. Here is a craft idea that you can do so much with after you are finished with it. first buy a package of coffee filters. any kind is fine (even a cheap kind) Next get some markers and decorate the coffee filters. don't do anthing fancy just like swirls and spirals going from the center all the way to the outside. Then fold them in half and half and half until they are like pie pieces (> kind of looks like that. Then dip one end into some water either out of a cup or a bowl and watch the colors run make sure it all gets wet but you don't need to drench the thing. Just a little bit goes along way trust me you will see when you do it. then after it is wet unfold it and let it dry. It will look pretty crazy and you can do so many things with… [cont.]

What are some good craft ideas for crafts you will be selling?
Q. I am trying to get some money by making crafts and selling them, i just dont know what to make. any ideas or websites would be greatly appriciated.

A. I like to make simple jewelry. This is popular for moms and elementary school teachers. Get the cute shaped erasers and hot glue them to earring posts. You can get bulk metal shapes like snowflakes and such at a crafts store. Then you can turn them into pins and earrings. If you want to fancy them up you can apply embossing (powder, then heat gun to seal). They don't cost much and are quick and easy to do!

What sort of arts and crafts do you do with your kids at home?
Q. I mostly do bead crafts with my girls. Made some bead creatures (lizards) keychains the other day. I have them paint ceramic pieces as well. But, I don't paint with them. My girls, now 8 & 9, recycle stuff to make crafts (like a village that covers the entire floor, made from paper & tape alone) completely on their own. I don't need to help them with stuff that doesn't require supervision. I see about a thousand (no exaggeration) pieces of their artwork in my diningroom alone! I'm really hoping for tips on doing sellable crafts. Something like macrame' plant hangers, leatherworking, make rocking chairs, etc. This is what sort of things I did as a kid, under 12, with adult help. Maybe some of you teens remember what you did with… [cont.]

What are good types of crafts to make and sell?
Q. I'd like to know what types of crafts are in demand from buyers. You can give as many crafts ideas as you'd like, and I'd like to know where I can find information on how to make them; and where and how to sell them. If you have experience in this, you can also tell what you did, and how you did it. Any ideas are welcomed, but lower cost ideas (what I need to spend to make the craft), and higher profit possibilites are the best.

A. recipesource.com has some great ideas for gift baskets to make as well as many of the things that would go into a gift basket, which would be good sellers this time of year. You can check your local newspaper for craft fairs. Hospitals, Bingo halls and churches often hold craft fairs this time of year and you may be able to get a table. Some stores take crafts on consignment and may sell them for you for a fee. Craft Fairs Online shows fairs being held in your area. More crafts and Christmas projects can be found here

Everyone divides their ball of play-doh in half and puts half in the center of the table. Then, using the other half, they sculpt something based on a theme (something you'd see in a garden, something you'd see downtown, etc.). Set a time limit (2 minutes is about right) and then when the time is up, without talking, everyone moves left one space. They now have someone elses sculpture in front of them. They try to figure out what it could be and then using the play-doh in the middle, add on to it. Do this again and again until each person is… [cont.]

What are some very enjoyable and easy crafts to do as a teenage girl?

A. I liked cross-stitching at that age. Crochet is really good, too, because you can take it with you if you are working on small projects like granny squares. The coolest craft I ever saw was left in my science desk by a previous occupant. He or she had taken the wire from a spiral notebook, and made it into a table -- on different day, I'd found a chair made out of wire. You just fool with it until it looks right, I guess. I think it needs a certain amount of talent and patience, though. It's not a paint-by-numbers sort of craft.

What is the name of the company where they send your child crafts and are delivered to your house?
Q. More specifically, the one mainly where it is for the girl audience. They send crafts every month or so when you are subscribed. Every single month, they give you something else to make. They provide you with everything to make the craft too. A type of craft I have made before that they have sent me was where you get a type of red styrofoam heart box with different colored and shaped lips and square boxes that you can stick on the heart shaped box. Another craft that I have made was a white bandana that you could paint on, they have provided the paint and the brush along with it. Another craft that I have made was a white bandana that you could paint on, they have provided the paint and the brush along with it. I could also remember a type of craft where they provided the different colored yarn and the cross-stitching tool to make a sort of picture like a dog. And… [cont.]

Does anyone know any good crafts to do with my sister this weekend?
Q. She's 8 and i have to watch her and she asked if we could do arts and crafts. I asked her what she wants to do and she doesn't know. Does anyone know any fun, inexpensive crafts?

What kind of crafts can spikenard be used in?
Q. I've done a search online through google & yahoo and have found very little in regards to crafts. I know that it is an ancient herb. I make lavender neck wraps that can be warmed in the microwave and need to know if I could use spikenard for this. Thanks for any advice.

A. You can use it in any application where herbs and essential oils are usually used, so bath and body products, soapmaking, herbal pillows and compresses, etc... It would be wonderful to include in your neck wrap :)
