What are good crafts for preschooler kids?
Q. I babysit two kids, ages 3 and 5. They like crafts but I'm running out of ideas!! I have made tambourines and music shakers, printed off colouring pages, traced & coloured leaves with crayons, let them illustrate small stories, ironed leaves in wax paper (I did the ironing; don't worry), finger painted and cut out potato stamps to use with paint. What are good crafts to do with them? Halloween crafts would be great but any craft will do. Thanks!

A. Here is a craft idea that you can do so much with after you are finished with it. first buy a package of coffee filters. any kind is fine (even a cheap kind) Next get some markers and decorate the coffee filters. don't do anthing fancy just like swirls and spirals going from the center all the way to the outside. Then fold them in half and half and half until they are like pie pieces (> kind of looks like that. Then dip one end into some water either out of a cup or a bowl and watch the colors run make sure it all gets wet but you don't need to drench the thing. Just a little bit goes along way trust me you will see when you do it. then after it is wet unfold it and let it dry. It will look pretty crazy and you can do so many things with… [cont.]

A. finger paints crayons water colors anything where it has a lot of pieces that can go anywhere (foam frames are awsome) either put glue everywhere on it or as her where she wants the piece then put glue there and let her place it anything that doesnt involve alot of dexterity would work great even though she's smart she probably doesnt have the dexterity to do alot of crafts well yet (my very smart 3 yr old still sucks at crafts) price wise try dollar stores and such for cheapy crafts and walmart for crayons and paints dont expect a masterpiece with paint yet alone actually coloring in the lines till age... well you know what i still cant color in the lines lol but i would say age 5 or 6 for that

What are some ideas of crafts that babysitters can do with kids?
Q. In the summer I nanny a 10 year old boy. Most of the time he plays video games and stuff, but I try to do activities and crafts with him. And I have run out of ideas of things to do with him. Any ideas?
Asked by brwnhairbarbie19 - Wed Aug 5 09:37:24 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You could visit and see if there are any craft projects that spark his interest. Boys are sometimes not as excited about crafts as girls, but some are. You can find banners, cards, recycling crafts, puppets, etc. there. Another suggestion would be to go to the library and get a kids cookbook, or a gross science experiment book (like making slime) or even a paper airplane book with lots of models, or even an origami book. I hope these suggestions help!

A. I started my son crafting by buying unfinished wood things like spice racks, thermometers, and helped him paint them. We used paint that washes off easily. Later we graduated to bookcases and furniture that we would assemble, then paint. Now he builds birdhouses and earns his own money, despite severe autism. He can't talk, tie his shoes or even use the bathroom, but he can build! .

A. Try decoupage, decoupage a plate, wooden jewelery box, a cutlery holder, spice rack etc... Do beading: make a necklace, bracelet and earrings to match, buy ceramics and paint them your own style, Do a wind chime or a dream catcher. Make gel or wax candles. I made a whole batch of wax christmas tree candles with snow on the branches and couldn't keep up with the orders. Buy small clear containers and paint a picture with glass liquid paint on the outside, place nuts and raisins, or dried fruits, or toffees and sweets inside them and sell them or give them away. It's great as it's home-made and after eating the contents inside they have a container after wards.

It's called Kool-aid Play dough, my youngest is five and he had a blast. 2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. salt 2 pkgs. kool-aid 3 tbsp. oil 2 c. boil water (With caution of course) Mix all dry ingred. Then mix your oil and water. Add wet to dry, mix well, be careful as it will be hot. Wait, mix again, add four to dough if needed so it's not sticky. Not too much or it will be hard, then have fun you're all done.
