What is the best store to buy lace tops and dresses in SoCal?
Q. I like a little vintage or rock styled lace tops and dresses. Short dresses. Cute rock, not screamo crazy grunge rock type. I love LF Stores, if you know what I'm talking about, but they're overpriced and the clothes I found in store aren't on their website.

Q. I got them like last week and the laces are in the like traditional way you know? criss cross. So they kinda look a little plain and ordinary. What's the best way to lace them up.

A. I have three different pairs of shoelaces in each shoe. One type is tied the traditional way, one is tied up and down, and one is tied on the side where those little holes are. It's a bitch when they all come untied though.

Q. We have gotten a second hand jolly jumper from a friend, it is the version that hangs from a door frame or hook and does up with studs and laces. It doesnt have instructions and I am wondering if anyone can tell me the correct way to lace it up?

A. Hi Sharee, I have just purchased a new jolly jumper for my son over the weekend. The instructions explain it as a "bow knot". I'm guessing this means as you would tie a shoe lace, but to me, this wasn't very secure, so personally, i have just done a double knot, ( the knot before the bow, twice). this has kept my little man, (that's no so little) in place. How can I get white lace that has yellowed over 30 years back to white on Christening gown? A sure remedy need
Q. My 30 year old daughter's Christening gown has hand sewn lace at bottom. The gown is pure white, but the lace over the years has yellowed somewhat (not a lot). I used ritz whitening and something for yellowing, but it is just a few shades off WHITE! Does anyone have a sure remedy, because my daughter is having a baby girl and I would love for her to wear her mommy's gown. My daughter thinks the difference in color is too obvious, so I really want a sure fire fix! Thanks to anyone who can help!

A. If the Mrs. Stewarts doesn't work. I know you can try the fresh lemon juice and waterbath on the lace, and put it in the sun to remove the stains. This works great on stained antique tablecloths. As a last resort you can carefully remove the lace to clean it as the gown itself may not withstand all the washings. Hand stitching it back on isn't that difficult. If it doesn't come clean then just remove it, and or replace it. Natural yellowing comes with age and fibre content and sometimes cannot be removed. Good Luck

Q. I understand that converse li top chuck taylors are meant to have '6' lace holes on each side of the shoe. How many do yours have? I have pair which has 7 lace holes on each side of the shoe. Is this because its a fake? it is a mens size 10. Everything else looks authentic. Help.

It doesnt mean your shoes or mine are fake. i bought mine from a converse store. the converses come in all different lengths, some are below the ankle, some are above the ankle, then some are mid calf and some are just below the knee. it depends which style the converse you have picked is. hope i helped :)

Q. I was watching TV and saw a guy (Russel Mitchell)lacing a rim and was totally lost and it look pretty cool. I am just really curious as to how to "lace a rim" and what are the different ways or styles and how difficult it might be to do it myself. Thanks.

A. It's not hard to lace a rim, but there are steps that must be followed and cautions that must not be ignored. Have a mechanic show you and you'll realise it's not really cool or fun! If even one spoke is too tight it will draw the rim crooked. You have to be real careful to keep everything nice and true. It must be done off the bike BTW. The way I see it, spoke wheels are obsolete and good riddance. They are cool only on show bikes.
