Lace is an openwork fabric, patterned with open holes in the work, made by machine or by hand. The holes can be formed via removal of threads or cloth from a previously woven fabric, but more often open spaces are created as part of the lace fabric. Lace-making is an ancient craft. True lace was not made until the late 15th and early 16th centuries. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric. Originally linen, silk, gold, or silver threads were used. Now lace is often made with cotton thread. Manufactured lace may be made of synthetic fiber. A few modern artists make lace with a fine copper or silver wire instead of thread. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Lace" How do you remove tanning cream from the white lace of a cami? Q. I got some tanning cream on the white laceof a cami so the edges of the lace are an orangeish color. It happened several months ago and the cami has been washed several times, and I want to wear it on the 4th. Do you have any idea how to get it out? Asked by Silver Tipped Wings - Sun Sep 2 23:19:31 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Bleach would be your only hope. If it's been washed and dried several times, I'd think the stain is pretty well set and will be close to impossible to get out at this point. Answered by life is good - Sun Sep 2 23:34:23 2007 What is the best glue/adhesive for sticking lace onto paper for a scrapbook? Q. I am looking for an adhesive that will hold the lace in place, but at the same time not lump up or stick out the the lace. Would double sided tape work or would I need something more firm? Help? Asked by Sadie - Sat Jan 23 12:21:12 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I made a page with some satin flower ribbon a few weeks ago and I used rubber cement. But if you're using lace then I guess the glue would squeeze out. I agree with the other answerer, spray adhesive would be best. You could also try small staples.
